The Osta Pools are accumulations of water flowing from the top of Drus Mountain. The streams which fill the pools originate from springs that are owned and controlled by Distewi and her daughters, who bring the water for these springs from within the Cavnod (Earth).

As this water flows through the streams, falls and pools on Adeg, Crisalid and other Trees that it passes through. Finally, the water is transported by the earth by Yemaya, on earth, prepares special places in bodies of water where Distewi and here daughters can take and return water that they release through the springs on Drus Mountain. Humans have deep, positive responses to these places, such as swirling eddies in streams, quiet logoons in lake and other locations touched by Distewi. It is here that time seems to slow down, if not stop entirely, and humans feel refreshed when they encounter places. This is because the water is fresher, more vibrant and powerful as it arrives from Addewid.

The Osta Pools themselves, are used by the Intredu to gain entrance to earth and influence events that are taking place there.

Although the Addewid Laws of Cavnod Free Will dictates and prevents the Intredu from causing events to happen within the Cavnod, they realized there there were ways to influence the thinking of humans, who could then (in turn) act (of their own free will) in ways that the Intredu desired. But this turned out to be less predictable than they had hoped. Human "free will" turned out to be much more troublesome for all of the Henin than was anticipated. Humans, it seemed, didn't like to be told how to do things and resisted any efforts to do so, but as all of the Henin eventually discovered, humans could be tricked into thinking that an idea was their own, and this is where the Osta Pools came in handy, since they allowed the Henin to enter Earth in their physical form at any place and time. However, the Intredu had no intention of allowing the other Henin to have access to the pools. This is one reason for the creation of the Cedaw, who were responsible for protecting the Ardal.

Praise be,
The Blessed Three
